Sandal season is just around the corner. And while a pedicure will ready your feet for summer there is much you can do between pedicures to keep your feet looking smooth and soft.

If the sight of the cracked heels of the women in the line in front of you, you might be encouraged invest in white socks to wear to bed. Slather them with a glycerin-loaded foot cream and in a really effective foot file (not a rasp; they are dangerous!), and dream of feet as soft as clouds.

Here’s what you’ll need between pedicures to keep your feet looking good for sandals this spring and summer:

 ATBITER Women’s Thin Cotton Socks

Every night you are going to slather your feet with glycerin-rich cream and wake up with soft, smooth feet. But to keep the cream off your bed linens, you’ll need inexpensive white cotton ankle length socks—and lots of them.  (We recommend ankle-length because no-show socks tend to fall off during the night.)  Buy a package of six at Amazon.com

Camille Beckman Foot Treatment

There are many foot creams on the market.  But we chose this one because it is absolutely loaded with lanolin and glycerin, two heavy hitters when it comes to moisturizing hard calluses and dry skin.  Slather this on your feet then put on your white socks. You will be incredulous at how your feet will feel in the morning.  Buy at Amazon.com.

Dr. Frederick’s Original Moisturizing Heel Socks

If you’re too tired to do the sock and cream thing once in a while before you go to bed, these moisturizing socks will get you over the hump (but are only a temporary substitute).  Since it’s usually your heels that are the dries, that’s exactly where these toeless socks concentrate their glycerin pad baked into the sock lining. The pad is a mixture of rose essential oil, vitamin E, jojoba oil, and olive oil.  Slide them on before bed and you will wake up with smooth, soft heels.  And since your toes can breathe, your feet won’t get too hot.  Buy on Amazon.com.

Bare August Oh So Bare Foot File

I have glass files for my fingernails, and I love them.  But when I first saw this glass foot file, I thought, “A glass file for your feet?  On a tile floor?  In a shower?  What could go wrong?”  But I loved the look of it and the glowing reviews, so I ordered it from Amazon.  I’m so glad I did.  It is so easy to hold, and it files dry skin and callouses like a dream.  And the glass surface is recessed into the plastic casing so it’s practically unbreakable.  And isn’t the name, Bare August, perfect for a tool that gets rid of dry skin and calluses?  Buy it at Amazon.com.

Pumice granules from volcanic rock are intensely exfoliating to smooth and soften even the roughest skin. Buy it on Amazon.
